MSSWA offers online training for the Warning Signs for Early-Onset Mental Illness in Children and Adolescents, required professional development for those maintaining a Tier 3 & 4 license through the MN Department of Education.  

By attending this Webinar, attendees will:

  • Obtain a greater understanding of how mental health disorders affect students' learning capacities
  • Learn how trauma impacts a students' overall functioning
  • Learn to identify key warning signs and symptoms of children's mental health disorders
  • Identify several key interventions for various children's mental health disorders and concerning behaviors

 

Nancy Williams has been a school social worker for the Owatonna Public Schools for 27 years.  She has worked at all grade levels and for the past 13 years has been working at Owatonna High School.  Nancy is also the adviser of the SHOC program  (Students Helping Others Choose) which has membership of nearly 100 kids grades 9-12 and promotes a healthy chemical free lifestyle for all students. 

Nancy obtained her bachelor's degree from Bemidji State University in 1992 and her MSW from The University of St. Thomas/College of St. Catherine in 2001. She became a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker in January of 2004.  Nancy has been a clinical supervisor for social workers in southern Minnesota for 14 years. Nancy has also worked as an adjunct professor at Concordia University St. Paul teaching graduate courses on mental health and family dynamics for educators.  She lives in Owatonna and is married to an educator and coach and has 2 teenage sons.
