Twice each year, MSSWA Mini-Grants will provide two awards, a $500 prize and a $750 prize, to support projects conducted by any Regular MSSWA member** in the schools where they work.

$500 Caitlin Ternes,  Goodhue Schools to establish a food pantry to benefit students in her district. 

$500 Annette Warner,  McKinley Elementary, Owatonna for materials to establish a calming room.  

June 2017 mini grant winners:

$750 Bryana Cook - Walker Hackensack Akeley District 113 - Region 9 for 25 sets of yoga Materials for her elementary school. 

$500 Linda Yankovec Anoka Hennepin District 11 - Region 10 for yoga/mindfulness class at ALC high school

January 2017 mini grant winners:

$750  Courtney Hubred  - Randolph Schools - Region 10: Randolph’s Sensory Room Chosen to support a rural school with needs that can be served for a lot of students over several years.

$500 Kris Heine - Lancaster Schools - Region 9:  Suicide Prevention  Chosen to support an acute mental health crisis in a rural community, following the death of students due to suicide.

June 2016 mini grant winners:

$750 Megan Lagasse, Anoka Hennepin Schools:  Sorterberg's Sharing Shelf.  Helping children in early childhood with developmental disorders have access to diapers, wipes, special equipment, and special dietary needs.

$500 Sheri Pederson, Willmar Schools:  9th Grade Academy Summer Academy t-shirts for students at higher academic risk, creating a bridge from middle school to high school.

January 2016 mini grant winners:

$750  Callie DeVriendt, Lincoln Park Middle School, Duluth: to fund a project with outcomes aimed at reducing their suspension rate, preventing students from receiving major referrals and increasing prosocial behaviors.

$500 Jamie-Sue Peterson, Parkside Elementary, Buffalo: for the creation of sensory stations for six classrooms, teaching self regulation skills.


**the grants are not available to Affiliate or Student Members.  They are intended for licensed school social workers employed in a school setting.
